Australia is in the midst of an LGBTQ battle these days, with same sex marriage being put up to a vote. Now, Australian-born actor Liam Hemsworth joins the ranks, calling people to Vote Yes, and explaining how same-sex marriage is a basic human right.

Liam Hemsworth, the 27-year-old actor who you probably know from The Hunger Games movies (and as brother of Thor himself – Chris Hemsworth), took to Instagram, where he has more than 9 million followers – to voice his support for same sex marriage in Australia.

“I personally do not believe that same sex marriage should come down to a vote”, Liam wrote, “I believe it’s a HUMAN RIGHT to be able to marry the person you love regardless of gender.”

“To all the Australians that care about equality and human rights please say YES to same sex marriage. Let’s not be silly about this. Vote YES for same sex marriage in Australia.”

While Liam is engaged to popular singer Miley Cyrus (forever, it would seem), she revealed a while back that Liam doesn’t want her to called him “a straight dude.”
