If there’s anything to take from the 2018 Winter Olympics (and there are actually quite a few things), it’s the fun friendship between out Olympians Gus Kenworthy and Adam Rippon.

Well, that friendship is now over!, as Gus declared on Twitter. But hold on before you get all worried…

26-year-old Gus Kenworthy is a freestyle skier who took part in the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, and then again this year in South Korea. Adam Rippon is a medal-winning U.S. figure skater who also took part in Winter Olympics.

And other than doing very well in their respective sports, Adam and Gus also became wonderful – and very photogenic friends, thanks to the Olympics and both of them being openly gay and in the spotlight.

They were very supportive of each other throughout the Olympics, both in person and on social media.

Today, Gus shocked his fans when he Tweeted a very “harsh” message:

“Two weeks ago, at opening ceremonies, we met and a friendship began. Today, at closing ceremonies, it ends. @Adaripp, please stop calling me. You’re honestly starting to get v clingy and I can’t anymore.”

Don’t worry though, we’re pretty sure it’s all a big joke. Some fans, though, got very worried…

Other were worried they would have to make a choice:

But again, worry not, no choosing will be needed. Actually, the two were adorable together on the Today show yesterday, talking about their experiences and their friendship:

Now we just have to wait for Adam Rippon’s response…
