Is there a better time to propose to your boyfriend, shortly after you’ve finished 6th place at the Rio Olympics? Openly gay British race walker, Tom Bosworth, didn’t think so – and indeed, he found the perfect opportunity to warm our hearts and ask the question.
While Tom Daley might be the most well-known openly gay British athlete in Rio, he’s certainly not the only one. 26-year-old Tom Bosworth, came out in 2015, and told the BBC at the time; “It’s a scary thing. I’m really lucky. I’ve got a loving partner, a great family behind me, a great setup in Leeds, and everyone is really supportive and really welcoming”.
And now, in Rio, he finally popped the question to his boyfriend, Harry Dineley, and Tweeted a photo of the moment (and the response!) –

The boyfriend (now fiancé) later tweeted a photo of his new ring:

Congratulations to the happy couple!
